Insights & Problem Understanding
The current parent group system in Oslo, which is typically organized through local health centers, does not always work effectively.
This is because the groups are formed randomly by the health centers. The experience often depends on whether there is someone in the group who takes the initiative. Many parents want social contact, but hesitate to initiate it themselves. Group dynamics rely heavily on whether one or more individuals take the initiative
Even though the parents share a similar life stage, differences in interests and personalities can make it difficult to build meaningful connections.

Improvements and Outcomes
I propose an application designed to build trusted, supportive communities for parents.
Users can register BankID, ensuring a high level of reliability and security. Based on factors such as expected due date, geographic proximity and activity range, interests (especially related to parenting), family structure, and personal background, the system assigns users to small groups of around six people. Within these groups, users can participate in shared activities through the app, exchange ideas via a bulletin-board-style system, and organize events.
By offering a safer and more structured environment than existing platforms like Facebook or online women’s forums, this app aims to address complex challenges that have proven difficult to solve.
The platform will also support practical, everyday needs. For example, it can facilitate the exchange of children’s clothing as they outgrow sizes, provide a space for sharing school-related information, and integrate functions that are currently scattered across multiple apps, such as kindergartens, schools, after-school programs, and sports activities. The goal is to centralize and simplify parental responsibilities within a single application.
Over time, as users continue to engage with the platform, it is expected to support various life stages. For instance, parents could connect with others through shared experiences or circumstances, such as having an LGBTQ+ child, a child in an international marriage, or having twin grandchildren. By enabling connections based on meaningful commonalities, the app creates a space for ongoing support, discussion, and community building.
